IAD 324 Advanced Computer Aided Design — Commercial Project
A regional headquarters that embodies Ralph Lauren's classic American heritage — dark oak, brushed brass, and Calacatta marble layered against a rich burgundy palette for a space that is timeless and operational.
Legacy & the Future.
A living, breathing example of the Ralph Lauren world — where classic American heritage feels right at home alongside modern efficiency.
This regional satellite office is designed around Ralph Lauren's core identity: the layering of rich, heritage materials alongside a sleek, contemporary sensibility. Dark oak and brushed brass provide a traditional foundation, while black metal, stone, and glass add a modern counterpoint. Warm leathers and soft ivory textiles keep the space inviting rather than austere.
Ralph Lauren touches — tartans, stripes, equestrian art — are woven in subtly to ground the space in brand identity without overwhelming it. The result is an environment that serves equally as a productive workspace for staff and an impressive destination for visiting executives and clients.
Acoustic comfort and solar performance were treated as primary design constraints — not afterthoughts. Workstation orientation, material selection, and window treatment strategy were all calibrated in response to a rigorous sun study of the building's east-west orientation.
Every finish and furniture decision traces back to Ralph Lauren's mission statement and brand heritage — rosewood veneer, Calacatta marble, equestrian art, and brass hardware create an environment that reads unmistakably as Ralph Lauren.
Corporate BrandingArmstrong Feltworks open-cell panels target absorption at hoteling and collaboration zones. Woodworks grille ceilings soften open-office reverberation. Metaphors coffers improve speech privacy in the board room and private offices.
AcousticsA full sun study mapped morning east glare at hoteling stations and afternoon west heat gain in the lounge. Workstations were rotated perpendicular to the sun path, solar-control film applied to east and west glazing, and roller shades specified throughout the open office.
Environmental Design
The custom reception desk anchors the arrival experience — a curved Calacatta Vagli marble front panel backed by a warm oak writing surface. The equestrian artwork behind the desk establishes brand identity immediately upon entry. Seating for one staff member, with anthropometric clearances calibrated to ADA standards.
Each private office features the OFS Cambria desk system with integrated storage, Herman Miller Eames Executive Chair, and a lounge seating cluster for one to two visitors. The Armstrong Feltworks open-cell acoustic ceiling panel is visible overhead, providing targeted absorption. Equestrian artwork reinforces brand identity at each workspace.
